Pastor Matthew St John
|
CHURCH AFFILIATION
Scofield Memorial Church was founded in 1877 as the First Congregational
Church of Dallas. One of its first pastors was C.I. Scofield, who is best
known for the Scofield Reference Bible which has blessed millions of believers. In 1923, the church was renamed in recognition of the greatness of Scofield’s contribution.
Among those who followed him were Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer, who later was
instrumental in founding Dallas Theological Seminary, Dr. Harlin Roper,
who pastored faithfully for forty-four years and Pastor R. Neil Aschcraft who served
as pastor for twenty-seven years.
In 2002, Matthew St. John became senior pastor of Scofield. He is committed to building on Scofield's rich heritage by empowering current and future generations of believers to honor and promote the reputation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew and his wife Christa have two daughters, Emily and Katy, and live in north Dallas.
